As you all know, I’ve been on and off here at The Winter Writer for some time. It’s a slow transition as I move away from this platform and toward a new website, writing environment, and other creative experiments. It also happens to coincide with my COVID wedding on Star Wars day (yes, I’m married!) and the transition to moving my husband into my apartment. It’s been an ordeal and my writing has taken the backseat for the moment.

There are new ways I’ve been able to stretch my creative muscles, though. During this time, I’ve actually found that it’s easier to record podcasts than sit down and focus on writing. This COVID situation has also affected my creativity so I’m looking for new, exciting creative experiments to help me stay engaged with my mind.

To keep that creative spirit, and to help others who are struggling, I’ve decided to release my first book for free. Each Tuesday, I’m posting a new chapter of Soul Forgotten for anyone to read. Of course, creative work is hard. That’s why I’m doing it on Patreon and offering three different engagement tiers for people to support my work. It gives people access to free things like podcast commentary on the chapters, free books, and even a video AMA at the end of the month.

This week, I released Chapter 1 and the commentary to go along with it. It’s my way of giving back to the community but also a way for me to re-engage with my work and bring it to life again.

I hope you’ll check it out. It was so much fun to create and I hope it will give people an escape during this transition period.

This blog is the brainchild of someone who wanted a complete lifestyle change so I got rid of all of my excess stuff and wrote a novel in 10 days. I now write for fun and coach others who want to cultivate their passion and get stuff done at laura-winter.com.
